The yet-unnamed patient is the fourth American with the virus to be transported to the United States. The patient is a physician and was transported from Sierra Leone, according to the report.

Emory University Hospital successfully treated two other Americans with Ebola in its isolation unit. Those patients were released from the hospital about three weeks ago.

Another American Ebola patient was transported from West Africa to The Nebraska Medical Center late last week. That patient is still in the Omaha hospital’s isolation unit.

Both Emory University Hospital and The Nebraska Medical Center have specially built units to treat patients exposed to serious infectious diseases like Ebola.

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa claimed nearly 1,850 lives from March to Aug. 31, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
