The two student cases were confirmed by laboratory testing and are no longer contagious, but two students with suspected cases are currently undergoing testing. The two students with confirmed cases had been previously vaccinated, according to Larry Cleek, the Dayton and Montgomery County emergency preparedness coordinator.
All four students reside on campus. Health officials are currently seeking out close contacts of the confirmed and suspected cases.
According to Dayton Daily, UD had one of the more stringent mumps immunization policies in the state of Ohio as of 2015.
The CDC reports that two doses of the vaccine are 88 percent effective at preventing the mumps.
