The unnamed physician was treating obstetrics patients, not Ebola patients, in a hospital in Monrovia. The physician isolated himself after showing symptoms and is “in good spirits,” according to SIM USA.

This is the third American missionary that has contracted Ebola. The other two missionaries were airlifted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta where they both successfully beat the disease, which has no cure, and were released two weeks ago.

There were no reported plans of transferring this patient to the United States for treatment.

Ebola has spread rapidly in West Africa since March, killing more than 1,550 people as of Aug. 28, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
