Lynchburg, Va.-based Centra Health has opened Centra Rehabilitation Hospital on the Simons Run Medical Campus.
The 50-bed hospital, developed through a joint venture with Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Rehabilitation that was announced in 2022, expands Centra’s rehabilitation capacity by 150%, according to a July 9 news release. The more than 60,000-square-foot facility includes a 12-bed brain injury unit, multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums, an activities of daily living suite and outdoor courtyards for patient rehabilitation.
Lifepoint Rehabilitation, an operating division of Lifepoint Health, will manage the hospital’s day-to-day operations. The organization operates more than 50 freestanding rehabilitation hospitals nationwide.
