Only seven nursing home chains of 634 in the nation received a five-star rating from CMS.
CMS’ Nursing Home Chain Performance Measures compiled health, staffing and quality metrics for CMS-certified nursing homes associated with chains. Chains are defined as groups of nursing homes that share at least one individual or organizational owner, officer or entity. The data was collected to track performance across states, CMS said. The most recent data was updated Aug. 12 and accounts for data from 634 chains as of July 2026.
