The survey asked 813 SNFs, which had an average bed size of 103, about their EHR usage.
Here are three survey insights.
1. Eighteen percent of SNFs used both an EHR and a local health information organization. Thirty-one percent did not use either an EHR or HIO.
2. One in five SNFs found patient health information from outside their facility, using technologies like web portals or remote access to another facility.
3. Non-profit SNFs exchanged key clinical information at higher rates (36 percent) than for-profit SNFs (27 percent).
