The resident, who was living at NewAldaya Lifescapes, was discovered the morning of June 16. The official cause of death was suffocation due to the position of the resident’s neck and head.

The facility has not conducted bed-rail risk assessments since August 2023 and has been hit with a state citation for the death as well as for failing to provide twice weekly baths for residents and failing to “meet the needs of incontinent residents,” the Capital Dispatch reported.

NewAldaya Lifescapes did not respond to Becker’s request for comment. This story will be updated if a comment is received.
