The majority of the lawsuits accuse facilities of “failing to properly curb the spread of disease, identify infected residents and treat their illnesses,” according to the Journal.
Joseph Ciaccio, a New York malpractice attorney, told the Journal his law firm has brought 48 lawsuits against nursing homes, most of which were filed in the past month.
“We’re trying to preserve the claims for our clients before running out of time,” Mr. Ciaccio told the Journal.
