Bronx, N.Y.-based Centers Health Care bought seven residential facilities in upstate New York from Schenectady, N.Y.-based Capital Living Group in September 2017.
After the purchase, discontent grew among family members of residents about care quality during the final months of ownership by Capital Living and the first few months under Centers Health Care.
To address these concerns, the administrator of the Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing created an open-door policy that lets patients’ family members talk to administrators about their concerns.
The facility has seen other improvements, but is still challenged by having adequate staffing levels for labor-intensive patient care.
