Wittenberg Village notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of the upcoming layoffs — as mandated by the state — in August, citing inflation, the pandemic and staff shortages as the reasons for closing.
Layoffs will take place between Oct. 9 and 31. The facility has been helping affected residents find new homes, including at other skilled nursing facilities in Crown Point.
Wittenberg Village is owned by Arlington Heights-based Lutheran Life Communities. Wittenberg Village’s other living communities, including residential living and assisted living, are staying open.
