Alana Metcalf, facility manager at Rossville-based Mary and Martha’s Personal Care, notified the state of Georgia Division of Aging Services on Feb. 28 that she did not have enough employees to care for the residents properly. The agency offered resources, but the owner could not afford them, the report said.

On March 1, the state told her to clear the facility by 3 p.m. the next day, according to the report.

“Normally, they have a 30-day notice, that they have 30 days to move, but the 30 days don’t play a role in that because I don’t have anyone to cover them for 30 days,” Ms. Metcalf told Local 3 News.

On March 2, family and friends of the 18 residents helped move them to other facilities. Although the residents were successfully relocated, Mary and Martha’s Personal Care workers lost their jobs.
