Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai earned Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation, the American College of Emergency Physicians’ highest level of recognition.
The designation recognizes EDs with specialized expertise and resources for patients 65 and older. Older adults account for about one-third of all patients treated at the system’s ED each year, according to an Aug. 3 system news release.
Award reviewers highlighted some of Cedars-Sinai’s specialized care, including a specialized geriatric nurse assessment team, integrated physical therapy and pharmacy services, senior-friendly amenities, Tender Loving Care volunteers and a physician who leads ongoing education on geriatric emergency care.
