White Plains, N.Y.-based Burke Rehabilitation received a “historic” $20 million challenge pledge, one of the largest philanthropic donations given to a free-standing rehab hospital in recent years.
The gift, given by Bill Ackman and Neri Oxman, will launch the hospital’s “Unlock Possible” capital campaign, which will match dollar-for-dollar philanthropic commitments raised by Burke, up to $20 million, according to a Sept. 16 hospital news release shared with Becker’s. The money will advance rehabilitation technology, improve patient care environments, expand clinical programs and increase access to intensive rehabilitation.
Burke Rehabilitation is a member of the Montefiore Health System.
