Taunton, Mass.-based Morton Hospital, part of Brown University Health, launched a new inpatient palliative care consultation program, Providence Business News reported Nov. 1.
The program, the first-of-its-kind in the system, expands existing inpatient consultation services for patients receiving care at the hospital. It offers services such as symptom management, support with complex medical decision-making, functional decline and goals-of-care discussions, according to the report. Patients can join the program through a referral from their provider.
The program is a collaboration with HopeHealth, a nonprofit hospice and palliative care service provider.
