Boynton Beach, Fla.-based Bethesda Hospital, part of Baptist Health, is discontinuing pediatric rehabilitation services at three locations beginning Aug. 21, according to a July 28 hospital notice.
Pediatric rehab services are being discontinued at Bethesda Hospital East in Boynton Beach, Fla., Baptist Health City in Boynton Beach and the hospital’s Wellington office.
The hospital said it is supporting patients and families in transitioning care to community providers that offer pediatric rehabilitation, and provided a list of more than two dozen pediatric rehabilitation providers in the area. Appointments before Aug. 21 will be unaffected, the letter written by hospital Chief Operating Officer Melissa Emerson said.
The letter did not provide a reason for ending the services.
Hospital communications manager Ryan Lieber told Becker’s that “Bethesda Hospital has discontinued pediatric rehabilitation services and is supporting patients’ families to transition care to providers offering pediatric rehabilitation. These services will no longer be available at our hospital-based location or at our offices at Baptist Health City and in Wellington. Our team is making every effort to ensure that all existing appointments through August 21 remain unaffected. Our top priority is continuity of care, and we are working closely with anyone impacted by the change.”
