Panama City, Fla.-based Ascension Sacred Heart Bay broke ground on its $11 million inpatient rehabilitation facility, WJHG reported Aug. 25.
The 18-bed facility is being built on the fifth floor of the hospital’s South Tower and will open in May. The facility will offer multidisciplinary care and create more than 50 skilled jobs.
“As our community ages, and also as we have more people moving to the community. For example, a big component of patients that are transitioning into the IRF are from our trauma population,” Robin Godwin, president and CEO of Ascension Sacred Heart Bay, told WJHG. “We’ll serve over 2,500 trauma patients this year, which is the largest volume of patients we’ve served since trauma designation.”
