The American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living, have launched a nursing home and long-term-care workforce initiative aimed at advancing policy solutions that “strengthen and sustain the long-term care workforce.”
The initiative, called Caregivers for Tomorrow, is part of the AHCA/NCAL’s “The Better Way” agenda, according to a Sept. 2 news release from the organization.
Caregivers for Tomorrow’s key priorities include workforce recruitment and retention programs, expanded training and career growth opportunities, commitment to telehealth advancements and allocating funds to nursing schools to grow the workforce pipeline.
“As our population ages, the demand for skilled, compassionate caregivers is far outpacing our current supply of workers,” Clif Porter, president and CEO of AHCA/NCAL, said in the release. “This is a clear signal to policymakers that strategic, collaborative action is needed to build a sustainable workforce.”
