5 states facing highest COVID-19 nursing home deaths

Pennsylvania has the highest number of COVID-19-related deaths in nursing homes in the country, according to weekly data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services updated Jan. 2.

Here are the five states with the highest number of COVID-19-related deaths in nursing homes:

1. Pennsylvania – 10,616

2. Texas – 9,466 

3. California – 9,431 

4. New York – 9,038

5. Ohio – 8,541
