4 post-acute, long-term care leaders honored

The foundation for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine has honored four leaders as part of its 2025 national leadership and excellence awards.

The awards will be presented at PALTmed’s annual conference in March, according to a Jan. 23 news release from the organization.

The honorees are:

  1. Howard Finger, DO, was named Clinician of the Year. He is an attending physician, clinical ethics consultant and a utilization management/quality assurance physician adviser at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler and Carter, where he is also president of the medical staff.
  2. Daniel Haimowitz, MD, was awarded the James Pattee Award for Excellence in Education. He is a practicing physician at several post-acute and long-term care settings in Pennsylvania.
  3. William Carl Mercer, MD, CMD, was named Medical Director of the Year. He is medical director of the Continuous Care Center at Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine’s Wheeling Hospital.
  4. Victoria Walker, MD, was awarded the William Dodd Founder’s Award for Distinguished Service. She is the medical and clinical officer at Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avel eCare Senior Care program.
