Scabies outbreak hits New Jersey nursing home

Several residents at Lakewood, N.J.-based Fountain View Care Center were treated for scabies this month, according to NJ.com.

The nursing home notified the Ocean County (N.J.) Department of Health of the scabies cases Feb. 7.

Jennifer Crawford, the county's communicable disease supervisor, did not confirm how many infections occurred but told nj.com the outbreak was confined to Fountain View Care Center.

The nursing home is working with health officials to address the outbreak and has already decontaminated the facility.
