The drive aims to fight hunger and promote the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. This year, Tenet is offering a challenge grant of up to $100,000. The grant will be used to match financial donations made to the campaign from June 2-9.

Tenet and its subsidiaries, Conifer Health Solutions and United Surgical Partners International, are participating in the drive. More than 190 facilities are holding food drives and fundraising campaigns.

“We know that good health starts with good nutrition,” Dian Adams, CNO of Tenet Healthcare and the drive’s co-chair, said in a press release. “Tenet’s Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive aims to help those struggling with hunger in the summer, a time when many children no longer have access to the school meals they rely on. Also, we know that children who stay active and eat healthy have fewer chronic health problems, increased concentration and more energy.”

Pam Taurence, a nurse at Detroit Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan, which is part of Tenet, launched the drive in 2010. Tenet expanded the effort nationwide in 2014.
