A recent study indicates accurate information on the human papillomavirus vaccine may be hard to come by online, according to Reuters.
Published by the Journal of Adolescent, the study shows it may be best to ask physicians about the vaccine, rather than search the Internet. Researchers found only about a third of the top search results included critical information, according to the report.
About 39 percent of web pages found by the research team were critical of the HPV vaccine, and those pages were generally less complete and lower quality, according to the report. About 50 percent of web pages gave information on who should get vaccinated, but few offered information on costs, according to the report.
Researchers noted they did not have information on the most common HPV vaccine search terms, according to the report.
