In December, the school received a $25,000 grant to reinstate the program from the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund, which is a partnership between the U.S. Department of State, Partners of the Americas and NAFSA’s Association of International Educators.
Through the program, students from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City will come to Northwestern for workshops and then meet back at Universidad Panamericana with NU students to collaborate on a research project focusing on the prevention and reduction of obesity, according to the report.
Some past program participants have returned to the U.S. to complete their own clinical research, on Chicago’s Spanish-speaking patients and their attitudes toward prescription medicine, for example.
