The joint effort between the hospital and Miles Smith Farm, a 36-acre farm located roughly 30 miles away, is the first of its kind in the state.
The goal of the program is to support a healthy diet by providing grass-fed, locally raised, high-quality meat that is free of added hormones and systematic antibiotics. The program also serves to support local farmers, according to the report.
Kurt Roessler, director of food and nutrition at Huggins, expressed optimism over the new partnership, telling Foster’s, “We hope this new partnership will support good health practices and make a difference in many lives today and in the future.”
