Walgreens has launched the Walgreens Pharmacy Patient Advisory Board to guide development of pharmacy services with direct input from patients managing chronic or complex conditions.

Patient members will serve one-year terms, while advocacy advisors will serve two-year terms, according to a Nov. 6 news release. The board is intended to ensure Walgreens initiatives are practical, accessible and patient-centric, and will complement existing platforms such as Walgreens Insights and the company’s clinical trials advisory board.

The board is chaired by Rina Shah, PharmD, Walgreens’ senior vice president of enterprise specialty pharmacy, and includes patients, caregivers and advocacy leaders. Advisory members include Bob Stephen, vice president of health security programming at AARP, and Elisa Weiss, PhD, senior vice president of education, services and outcomes research at Blood Cancer United.
