University Hospitals Parma (Ohio) Medical Center has opened a UH Meds Retail Pharmacy that provides prescription services for patients, employees and the community.
The pharmacy offers the health system’s Meds to Beds program, in which pharmacists deliver medications to hospitalized patients before discharge and review medication instructions, according to a June 18 press release. The location also offers free home delivery of medications.
The opening is part of a broader trend of health systems expanding retail pharmacy access as national chains continue to shutter locations. Several systems have opened community pharmacies in recent months, including Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, MetroHealth System in Cleveland and Catawba Valley Health System in Hickory, N.C.
