Ulcer drug recalled amid contamination risk

A Florida-based drugmaker is pulling one lot of an ulcer drug because of a possible Bacillus cereus contamination.

VistaPharm's sucralfate oral suspension, 1 gram per 10 milliliter solutions were distributed to three distributors nationwide, according to the FDA.

"In the population most at risk, the immunocompromised population, there is a reasonable probability that microbial contamination of the oral suspension can result in disseminated, life threatening infections such as endocarditis and necrotizing soft tissue infections," the FDA said.

No adverse events have been reported.
