10 excellent hospital pharmacies: ASHP

Hyde Park, Ill.-based University of Chicago Medicine’s Harvey, Ill.-based Ingalls Memorial Hospital pharmacy department has become the latest addition to UChicago Medicine’s American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Certified Center of Excellence designation, according to a July 3 LinkedIn post from Negin Kiyavash, PharmD, director of pharmacy services at Ingalls.

The designation recognizes pharmacy departments that meet ASHP’s standard for medication-use safety and pharmacy practice through a rigorous document review and multiday on-site survey. Certification lasts three years, according to ASHP.

Here are the 10 organizations currently listed as ASHP Certified Centers of Excellence, per ASHP’s list of certified organizations:

  • University of Chicago Medicine (Chicago), which now includes Ingalls Memorial Hospital
  • City of Hope (Duarte, Calif.)
  • Infirmary Health (Mobile, Ala.)
  • Keck Medicine of USC (Los Angeles)
  • Lee Health (Fort Myers, Fla.)
  • Legacy Health Salmon Creek Medical Center (Vancouver, Wash.)
  • Oregon Health & Science University (Portland)
  • OSF HealthCare (Peoria, Ill.)
  • Saint Luke’s Hospital (Kansas City, Mo.)
  • University of California San Diego Health
