The University of Houston College of Pharmacy in Texas is expanding its graduate offerings to include a Master of Science and doctoral degree in population health and pharmacoepidemiology — the first such program in the Houston metropolitan area.
The new degree tracks will be housed in the college’s department of pharmaceutical health outcomes and policy, according to a Feb. 2 news release.
UH leaders said the program positions the college “as a hub for advanced training at the intersection of pharmacy, data science and population health.” Graduates will be prepared for research and leadership roles in healthcare, government, industry and academia.
The program combines epidemiologic methods, biostatistics, health data science and pharmacoepidemiology. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to those with pharmacy, biomedical or health-related backgrounds.
