Civica Rx is a nonprofit that was formed in September 2018 by a coalition of hospitals that sought to create a company to reduce the generic drug shortage in the U.S.
A delivery of vancomycin, a common antibiotic, is scheduled to arrive at the hospital, part of SSM Health, Oct. 24. Vancomycin has often been in short supply in thousands of hospitals, according to SSM Health’s news release.
Civica Rx delivered medication for the first time earlier this month to a Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare hospital. The company has said it plans to deliver drugs to all its member hospitals in the upcoming weeks.
