The affected lots are 19027S and 19027E. Milk of Magnesia is used to reduce stomach acid and relieve occasional constipation in adults and children age 12 and older.
The patients most likely to use the medicine are immunocompromised, meaning they have a higher probability of developing a potentially life-threatening infection.
However, to date the company has not received complaints about adverse events.
The affected lots of the drug, used to treat constipation in adults and children 12 and older, were distributed to Major Pharmaceuticals Distribution Center and may have been shipped to clinics, hospitals and healthcare providers in the U.S. in August 2019.
Customers with existing inventory from either lot should refrain from use, return the product to the pharmacy or contact Plastikon Healthcare, the company said.
