North Dakota leads all states for pharmacy technician pay after cost-of-living adjustments, with a mean adjusted hourly wage of $25.94, according to data published May 15 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Washington state tops the list on nominal pay — technicians there earn a mean annual salary of $61,140, or $29.39 per hour — but a cost-of-living index of 114.1 pulls the adjusted figure to $25.76 per hour. Hawaii tells the starkest story: Despite a nominal $23.51 hourly wage, a cost-of-living index of 185.0 cuts real-dollar pay to $12.71 per hour, the lowest adjusted rate in the country. The District of Columbia follows a similar pattern, with a nominal $25.82 per hour dropping to $18.60 adjusted.
