Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America President and CEO Steve Ubl plans to step down at the end of 2026.

Steve Ubl has led PhRMA, the largest pharmaceutical lobbying group in the country, since 2015 and will remain in the role until a successor is appointed, according to an April 8 news release. The board has launched a search and said Mr. Ubl will support the transition.

During his tenure, the lobbying group addressed policy issues tied to pharmacy benefit managers and the 340B program and expanded partnerships with employers, pharmacists, patient groups and provider organizations.

Under Mr. Ubl’s leadership, PhRMA also added new member companies, including biopharmaceutical companies Gilead and Genentech, and updated its membership criteria.
