The National Community Pharmacists Association named Christian Tadrus, PharmD, its 2026-27 president during the organization’s 2026 Annual Convention in Kansas City.
The NCPA House of Delegates installed Dr. Tadrus and elected Brian Hose as the association’s newest officer, according to an Oct. 6 news release. Delegates also approved resolutions encouraging independent pharmacies’ active participation in the CMS ACCESS program through CPESN and NCPA programs. They supported independent pharmacies’ role in emerging direct-to-employer, direct-to-consumer and direct-to-patient healthcare and pharmacy programs.
Another resolution advocated for open, transparent and nondiscriminatory participation standards to ensure equitable access to network participation.
The ACCESS resolution comes as CMS expands the model, which ties Medicare payments to measurable improvements in patient health. The agency will add heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, substance use disorders and tobacco cessation tracks starting in spring 2027, and 160 organizations currently participate. NCPA and CPESN opened enrollment in September for ACCESS to Pharmacy Care, a program that connects pharmacies to the model through GamePlan Medical, a CMS ACCESS participant.
