Medicare Part B spent $725 million on drugs that ended up being thrown out in 2018, according to CMS data

Just 10 drugs accounted for 63 percent of the wasted money, as reported by Axios

Velcade, a chemotherapy drug designed to treat myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma made by Takeda Pharmaceutical, was the most wasted drug, costing Medicare $123 million. 

NPlate, a bone marrow stimulant made by Amgen, cost Medicare $78 million.
