Phoenix Children’s taps former Providence executive as chief pharmacy officer

Phoenix Children’s has named Mike Skafi, RPh, chief pharmacy officer.

Mr. Skafi will lead pharmacy strategy, governance and operations across the health system, including medication management, safety, quality improvement and regulatory compliance, according to an Aug. 17 news release. He will also oversee inpatient, ambulatory, specialty, retail and infusion pharmacy services.

Mr. Skafi most recently served as assistant vice president of pharmacy and interim senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Renton, Wash.-based Providence. He helped oversee pharmaceutical strategy and pharmacy operations across the seven-state health system, which includes more than 50 hospitals and 1,000 clinics and generates nearly $30 billion in annual operating revenue.

He brings more than 20 years of pharmacy leadership experience, including executive roles with Phoenix-based Banner Health and Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
