Four things to know:
1. Mayo Clinic announced plans to build an $8 million pharmacy in “existing shell space” in South Rochester. It is expected to open this summer.
2. Once the new location opens, the health system will move its pharmacy operations from the Brackenridge Building in downtown Rochester, bringing along 100 to 125 employees.
3. The pharmacy will not be open for public use. It will be used for the Mayo Clinic health system.
4. “This location will provide central, high-volume mail-order prescription-filling services and is not a patient pharmacy for prescriptions to be dropped off or picked up,” Mayo Clinic spokesperson Kelley Luckstein told the Post Bulletin. “The new location offers more space for future growth opportunities and will accommodate updated technology needs.”
