The app, called Ava, will feature an option for its users to order medications from Cost Plus Drugs, according to an Oct. 5 Avanlee news release.

About 54 million people in the U.S. provide unpaid care to their loved ones, according to Avanlee. Nearly half of elderly patients don’t adhere to their medicine regimens, which leads to between a 10th and a quarter of hospital and nursing home admissions.

Mark Cuban, co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs, said his company and Avanlee “share a common mission: to provide lower costs on prescribed medications, saving money for the unpaid family caregiver and their loved one, the care-receiver.”
