The survey, conducted between Sept. 5 and Nov. 22, asked pharmacists 19 questions about their perceptions of AI.
Key findings published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association include:
- Of those who use AI software, the most common tools are large language models (33.7%) and image generation (10%).
- 56.1% of pharmacists said they think AI will decrease the number of pharmacy jobs.
- 34.9% expressed some degree of distrust of AI.
- 64.1% felt AI could enhance their professional effectiveness and productivity.
- Men use AI more than women, with utilization rates of 50.1% compared to 31%.
- By age group, the highest AI utilization was among those aged 23-29 and lowest among those aged 60 and older.
