The Drug Shortage App, developed to help hospitals protect the safety of their patients, tracks nationwide medication shortages, monitors hospital-specific prescribing trends and provides insights into the hospital’s drug inventory. Using a proprietary algorithm, the app provides pharmacy staff with comprehensive insights in near real-time to inform decisions.
The app will help pharmacy leaders assess possible risks and plan to head off adverse events as a result of a medication shortage.
Brita Hansen, MD, and CMO of LogicStream, said the app cuts the time it takes to evaluate a new drug shortage “down to minutes, giving back to your clinical pharmacy team valuable time they can spend on other high-value clinical duties.”
