Bowling Green, Ky.-based Med Center Health has partnered to create a specialty pharmacy program in its clinics.

The program, in partnership with Boston-based ClearWay Health, will ensure patients with complex and chronic illnesses have equitable access to medications and support, according to an April 15 system news release. The first clinics to offer these services will be Med Center Health Neurology, Med Center Health Western Kentucky Heart & Lung, and Med Center Health Gastroenterology.

Certified pharmacists and skilled pharmacy patient liaisons will embed into care teams to proactively identify patients, assess barriers and streamline medication delivery. The program will also unburden hospital providers and clinic teams from navigating benefits investigations, financial assistance, prior authorizations and other administrative tasks, the release said.

The system plans to expand the specialty pharmacy services to additional clinics and open a new specialty pharmacy space.
