The Health Resources and Services Administration has extended the comment period on its 340B rebate model proposal from 30 days to 60 days after the American Hospital Association and other organizations requested more time.
The deadline for comments is now April 20, according to a Feb. 25 Federal Register notice from the HHS agency.
The new deadline will allow stakeholders enough time to “submit meaningful comments for HRSA’s review in evaluating operational, financial and potential impacts on access to drugs for patients under a rebate model,” the notice said.
In a February letter, the AHA and other hospital groups said the original March 19 deadline would make “it almost impossible for 340B hospitals to comprehensively gather the ‘facts, research and evidence’ that HRSA has asked stakeholders to provide in their comments.”
HHS planned to implement a 340B rebate model on Jan. 1, 2026, but federal courts blocked the proposal. The federal agency then remanded the idea to HRSA, which issued a request for information Feb. 13 on the proposed rebate pilot.
