Pharmacists working for the retail grocery chain, which operates under store names including Osco, Albertsons and Safeway, can now “administer long-acting injectable medications for mental illness and substance use disorders,” the company said in a news release shared with Becker’s Aug. 30.
“In Montana, we have predominantly rural communities coupled with increasing demands placed on the healthcare system, so access to treatment and medical care can be extremely challenging,” Kori Miller, the patient care services manager at Albertsons/Safeway, said in the release.
The partnership is planned to extend throughout Montana by the end of fall.
