A study found GLP-1 drugs such as Zepbound and Wegovy may offer benefits for people living with psoriasis, HealthDay reported Sept. 18.

In the study, presented Sept. 18 at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, researchers found that GLP-1s may offer benefits beyond effects on weight loss and glucose control, especially cardiovascular benefits and psychiatric benefits in people with psoriasis.

Researchers  compared health outcomes of more than 3,000 GLP-1 users with another group of psoriasis patients taking different diabetes medications as well as a broader sample of more than 110 million Americans without psoriasis.

The scientists said they believe benefits may stem from GLP-1s’ anti-inflammatory effects and their interaction with brain regions tied to mood and addiction, the report said.
