Albany, Georgia-based Phoebe Putney Memorial has begun using pharmacy smart lockers to improve prescription pickup for staff.
The technology allows Phoebe employees to retrieve prescriptions 24/7 from secure, automated lockers located next to the hospital’s onsite pharmacy. After a pharmacist fills a prescription, the employee receives a locker code via electronic notification to access their medication, according to an Oct. 7 news release.
The lockers are equipped with integrated pharmacist communication features to maintain access to medication counseling and are located in a secure area requiring badge access.
