Former Providence pharmacy chief joins drugmaker

Elie Bahou, PharmD, former chief pharmacy officer at Renton, Wash.-based Providence, has joined pharmacy company Hercules Pharmaceuticals as executive vice president and chief pharmacy strategy officer. 

Dr. Bahou previously led integrated pharmacy operations at Providence, focusing on payer-provider collaboration, supply chain stability and expanded patient access, according to a Sept. 14 news release from the company. 

He also held leadership roles at Cardinal Health and pharmacy benefit manager Optum Rx, where he developed experience in pharmaceutical distribution and PBM strategy. 

In Dr. Bahou’s role at Hercules, he will lead pharmacy strategy across the organization, aiming to strengthen provider and manufacturer partnerships to help address drug shortages and supply challenges.
