CVS Health has opened its first pharmacy-focused location in Texas, expanding a small-format store model the company is rolling out nationwide.

The approximately 3,000-square-foot Houston store is one of nearly 20 pharmacy-focused locations CVS plans to open in select communities, including two more in the greater Houston area over the next year, according to a July 17 press release.

The new Houston location offers prescription medications, immunizations and other pharmacy services, along with a curated selection of over-the-counter health products. The opening follows CVS’ March launch of its first pharmacy-focused location in Chicago. The company said it has also opened pharmacy-focused locations in Birmingham, Ala., Detroit and Washington, D.C., and plans to open more than 40 new CVS Pharmacy locations overall, including traditional stores and pharmacies inside Target.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
