Cleveland Clinic donates building to charitable pharmacy group

Canton, Ohio-based Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital donated an unused office building to Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, a nonprofit pharmacy that provides low-cost prescription medication.

The one-story building has not been used in several years, according to an April 17 hospital release. Beacon plans to spend more than $1 million to renovate the 5,800-square-foot space. Once complete, Beacon will expand its services, including pharmacy, immunizations, counseling and medication and health education.

In 2022, Beacon served more than 2,300 uninsured or underinsured residents and provided nearly 25,000 prescriptions that amounted to more than $4 million in wholesale value. About 95 percent of the medications are donated, according to the release.
