Civica Rx, Hikma to partner on 14 sterile injectables

Civica Rx, the hospital-owned nonprofit generic drug company, signed a five-year agreement with Hikma Pharmaceuticals to manufacture and supply 14 sterile injectable medications, the two organizations announced July 23.

The 14 products included in the agreement were not immediately disclosed, but Civica Rx said the medicines are used daily by hospitals in emergency care, surgery, pain management and to treat hypertension.

Initial shipments of the generic injectables to member hospitals are expected to begin this year.

Civica Rx was founded in 2018 by several big-name hospital systems to boost the access and affordability of generic drugs. More than 30 health systems representing more than 900 hospitals are Civica Rx members.
