Advocate Christ Medical Center has opened a retail pharmacy at its Oak Lawn (Ill.) campus, to provide on-site access to prescription and over the counter medications for patients, staff and local residents, Southwest Regional Publishing reported July 14.

The pharmacy, located on the first floor of the hospital’s outpatient pavilion, began operations in mid-May. It offers prescription fulfillment, common over-the-counter drugs and routine immunizations, such as flu shots.

Hospital officials said the pharmacy will support patients during the discharge process by allowing them to obtain necessary medications before leaving the hospital, potentially reducing delays in treatment. It also serves hospital employees and community members seeking nearby pharmacy services.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
